Established in 2020, The Remnant House, located in Lee County, Mississippi provides men and women with a faith-based Christian transitional living home and recovery program. Our Christ-centered one year transitional living recovery program allows an individual to incorporate their learned program tools into a plan of recovery.
Residents are assisted throughout The Remnant program with the goal of a successful and smooth transition and reintegration into the community as a productive citizen.
The Remnant program is guided by and incorporates throughout our program the Christian teachings of Jesus Christ and require each resident to attend church regularly, study the word of God, seek employment, serve the community in which they reside all while adhering to The Remnant residential requirements and responsibilities.
The Remnant program is simply the way a spiritually and mentally healthy individual should live day to day
Donovan Barnes was born in Russellville Alabama and spent the early years of his life learning the family business: plumbing. He began using drugs and alcohol at 18 and his life quickly spiraled out of control. For the next 27 years his life was a terrible mixture of despair, loss, prison and rehabs. He was finally brought to the end of his self in 2018 and fully surrendered his life to the call of God. Today he is a business owner, college graduate, minister as well as our director. He credits all of his accomplishments to the glory of God. He has now dedicated his life to helping others receive the freedom he now has through Christ.
Abby Barnes was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi to a very supportive family where she was afforded every opportunity to succeed. However, she began to rebel and experiment with drugs at an early age and this progressed over a twenty year period which took everything from her and left her facing a fifty year prison sentence. After spending many years in Alabama developing a relationship with Jesus and being set free, she is now back in Tupelo and honoring God by devoting her remaining days to helping others have what was so freely given to her - salvation.
Today Donovan and Abby work tirelessly to meet the needs both spiritually and physically of the residents in the Remnant Program. Their joy comes from seeing others turn their lives to God and a new healthy way of life.
The first six months of the program involves learning how to seek God as the solution to all of life's circumstances while working, attending bible study, contributing to the community and fellowshipping with other residents.
The second phase of the program is a staff training program that allows residents to stay up to a year longer giving back, teaching classes, leading bible study and being the light to their community that God has called us all to be.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission.
